Director’s Statement

After moving to Georgia when I was twelve years old, I had to sign a petition in front of the entire student body (and God) that I would not have sex until I was married. Being in sixth grade at the time, all I could identify about the experience was the uncomfortable feeling it left me with. Now, being 23 years old and having a four year old son of my own, I feel a responsibility to confront the issues our culture has manifested around the subjects of abstinence, sex, and virginity in correlation with a woman’s worth and autonomy. My ultimate hope for this film is that it frees a young woman, even just one, from carrying society’s unrealistic expectations on her shoulders.
